[community profile] charloft Munday - PB

1. Who is your character's PB?
Rachel McAdams

2. Which came first, the character or the PB?
The character, definitely. Justine is a canon character from The Dresden Files novels series.

3. Why did you choose this particular PB?
It was a process of choosing a PB that [personal profile] raith_wraith's mun helped a lot with. Justine has something pretty drastic happen to her in canon, after which her previously dark hair starts growing white, so the fact that there were Rachel icons with both dark and pale hair was a big bonus; there's also both strength and sweetness to her that matched both mine and Thomas's mun's idea of Justine. I actually broke one of my own rules about PBs (not to use the same PB for two different muses), but from the faces we looked through, she was the closest.

4. How close is the PB to your character? What are the differences, if any?
Close, but not perfect. For example, Justine's eyes are dark, while Rachel's are.... well, light (blue? gray? hard to tell from pictures, but one can settle on blue, I guess). And obviously, the pale hair is blonde, not white. But other than that, in general appearance, she is a very good match, I think.

5. Have you modified the PB in any way to be more like your character?
No, I haven't, though I have given consideration to making the blonde icons white-haired. I am just not that good with graphics software.

6. Have you ever changed your character's PB / would you ever? Why, or why not?
I am not overly fond of changing PB. For a muse or two, I've added a PB or two, but those occasions are always characters who have shape-shifting abilities of some sort (i.e., [profile] grasstainedfeet is a goddess who, in canon, has various reincarnations).
Would I change a PB? Possibly, if a. I find somebody who is VERY MUCH better than the one I am using, b. canon PB changes (I have that one coming for one of my muses, AFAIK), and c. for a new muse, if somebody whose opinion makes a difference to me gets upset over the original PB choice for some reason (they're using or playing with somebody else with that PB in a way that playing with my muse will make upsetting/brain breaky). I have been very lucky in that it's not happened, thank you everybody that I play with!

7. Where did you find icons of your PB, or did you make them yourself?
Various. Mostly I find them - various graphics comms and journals on LJ and IJ, primarily. I hoard icons for some characters, or maybe for all when I find good ones.
Sometimes, when I want something very specific, of I can't find icons that I can use, I have been known to make my own.

8. Is it important to have an appropriate PB for your character? Why or why not?
It is for me. An appropriately chosen PB can help a whole lot in the development of an original character, for example, at certain stages. And both canon and OCs, having a good PB gives a bit of confidence and feeling good abut the character. I tend to spend ages on choosing a PB and those I talk with tend to get almost tired of me going, 'how about this one? Or this one?' for days. So... I say that it's important for my play.
On the other hand, I tend to be pretty laid back about others' choices of PB so long as they show at least a little bit of sense.

9. Have you ever been favorably/unfavorably predisposed towards a character because you liked or didn't like the PB choice?
Yes, but that has been mostly because certain players' preference for some PBs over and over and over again - to the point where when I see a new character with that PB, I automatically assume it's possibly this or that mun and potentially shy away.

10. Have you ever had a character who was represented by text icons / no icon only because they were too difficult to find a PB for?
Not... that I can think of? Or at least not more than a few hours. I had a muse that used to only have a blue raven as an icon for a bit while I was digging up more.
